Cheap accommodations in Sri Lanka – spending less than 10€ per night

Posted on Posted in travel

When travelling, accomodations can add up quite fast, and are often one of the most expensive things throughout the whole trip.

Even though I didn’t travel Sri Lanka on a tight budget, it’s always nice to save some money, right? 😉

I decided to spend all my nights in hostels. Not only are they one of the cheapest options around (unless you know someone and get to stay for free with them :)), but also will you be able to meet many, many amazing fellow travellers. Especially when travelling alone this is a win-win situation.

Following there is a list of some great hostels I had amazing times in. They all cost less than 15€ per night, spread great vibes and were just somehow really cool. While there might be (I’m sure there are) more fantastic hostels, I only put those on the list I actually stayed in – this way I can truly recommend them as I experienced it myself.

In the end of this post, I will share some great tools and tips on how I came across great deals and amazing hostels.

How to find accomodations – tips, tools, experiences

It’s all online these days, isn’t it? Even though sometimes the greatest tips are revealed word by mouth among travellers, I loved using my travel apps to find great and cheap accomodation.

1// Hostelworld

2// Booking.com

For the whole trip I booked all my hostels with those apps.

On both apps you put in the city you are about to stay in, select your dates and it will show you hostels in that area with reviews from people who have already been there.
